10 Day Challenge - Day 7 Freehand Design

One of my favorite freehand designs is inspired by butterflies. I first saw the design sometime last year on Lacquerized. I thought it was a simple yet beautiful depiction of a butterfly. For my freehand I choose one of my favorite color combinations, purple and pink. What's not to like about this feminine duo?

The design looks simple but it's quite time consuming. You need hands of a surgeon to paint straight lines!

I'm happy with the results but I don't want to take it off. I hope you don't mind if I post the next challenge a couple of days late.

Until next time. Happy Polishing!

  5. Thanks so much ladies :)

    @Susan. I don't have a surgeon's hands so it took me a while to perfect the lines, lol.

  7. SICK! I love this. I find one of the easiest ways to do super straight lines is a rather longish liner brush. You use the length of the brush and just lay it where you want it, and let let the brush do the work.....works every time!

  8. Thanks ladies!

    @CrlSweetie. That's a great tip! It took me a while to figure out I was using the wrong brushes. I'll try the long brush next time!

    @Carolina. You should give it a try :)

  10. These are amazingly pretty. Freehand is not really my greatest skill or I'd be tempted to try my own version.

  12. @Sarah. You should give it a go. I've been practicing with acrylic paints which allows you to wash off the mistakes, lol.

    @Ash-Lilly thank you :D

  16. @Teddi. You can try it with water colors. They're more forgiving. If you make a mistake just swipe over it with the opposite color, lol.

    @Susan. Isn't it great! The butterfly is definitely an attention getter.

    @LuvMyLacquer. Thanks for inspiring me to do this challenge :D

    @Toyomi. Thank you!

  17. The question is: how do you keep such a steady hand for both hands? Painting my right hand always gives me troubles (bc I am a righty)! Tips PLZ

  18. @C It's difficult for me also. I've gotten better with practice but it's still not the best. I find that designs are easier to do after I've done them at least once. So I start with left hand and end with the right.
