Just Spotted The Lizard

Good morning!

A quick post before I head out for the day.  I apologize for my sporadic posts lately. I'm frantically preparing for graduation and tidying up the last of my school work for the rest of my life, lol.

My nails from the weekend were done using DRK-A image plate, OPI Just Spotted The Lizard and topped with LA Girl Double Platinum.  Kinda funky you think?

Thanks for stopping by. Have a fabulous day and happy polishing!

OPI Limited Edition Minnie Mouse Limited Edition Collection - Swatches and Review

Good morning! Today I have the Minnie Mouse Collection to share with you :)

OPI launches Vintage Minnie Mouse, including four limited edition nail lacquers, for summer. Created in honor of Disney’s beloved character, the colors encapsulate Minnie Mouse’s irresistible charm in playful, pretty shades of pink and red.

The Color of Minnie - medium red with a hidden pink shimmer that gives it a pearl-esque hue. Two coats.
I'm All Ears
- Magenta with a matching shimmer. I only used 2 coats but needed a 3rd to cover VNL.

If You Moust You Moust
- very vibrant fuchsia-pink. My camera couldn't capture this one accurately. Its very bright but not quite neon. Two coats.

Nothin Mousie 'Bout
It over The Color of Minnie. Very cute and girly combination. Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It is like a thick glaze. I used 1 coat over the red and brushed the hearts where I wanted them to go. Alternatively, you can pick them up off the brush using a toothpick and apply them where you want them to go.

Here she is alone. I used 3 coats to cover my stained nails.

Here she is over black. My favorite combination so far. Over black it flashes blue and purple. Gorgeous!

A view of the entire collection.

If you love pink then you will love this collection! The polishes are a cute tribute to Minnie Mouse and Disney fans. They all had great application, including Nothin' Mouse 'Bout It, which was a lot thicker than I imagined. I really love the glitter because its very versatile and can be used with our without the hearts, so its not a deal breaker if you don't like hearts. Overall the set is fun and very girly. My favorites from the collection are The Color of Minnie and Nothin' Mouse 'Bout It.

This limited edition promotion will be available beginning June 2012 at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

Sticks 'N Stones

Happy Sunday everyone! I just finished working on my Senior Project and its done as far as I'm concerned. Two more weeks of school until graduation and I'll have my P.H.D. - player hater's degree :)

My nail of the day is Sticks n' Stones over Color Club's Take Me To Your Chateau. I really love this combination. The glitter pops so well over the blue, or any color for that matter. I stamped on top to add a little extra to the mani. I didn't necessarily need it, just playing around. I originally wanted to stamp with my Cheeky flower but I couldn't get it to pick up. I like the results anyways so I'm happy.

Here are my nails prior to stamping. Very jazzy without the stamps. I can't wait to try Sticks 'N Stones over more colors.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy polishing!

Notebook Paper

I had somewhat of a stressful week so I thought I would lighten things up with a whimsical mani. I first saw this design on Emerald Sparkled's website. She made an amazing doodle design. Check it out if you haven't seen it already!

I stamped the blue lines using Cheeky Image Plate CH6 and the apple with my new Salon Express Kit image plate. The pink lines were created using a striper and Essence's VIP Appeal. Super easy!

Happy Easter!!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter! I had a great day spending time with my family. I may have drunken a little too much Moscato but I won't be able to tell until tomorrow. No nails today but here is a pic of some of the candy I made for the Egg Hunt. I hope the kids enjoyed. It took longer than I expected.

Until next time. Happy Polishing :D

Nicole by OPI Texture Coats Spring 2012 - Swatches and Review

Nicole by OPI
announces the launch of four new limited edition Texture Coat hues: Opal, Quartz, Amethyst and Aquamarine. This line of graffiti-style nail art products offers a simple way to create an edgy, two-texture effect on nails with quick at home application.

Amethyst Texture
over That's Totally Red-ical. This was my favorite combination! The amethyst is gorgeous over the bright pink.
Aquamarine Texture over Purple Yourself Together. Another cute combination. Aquamarine looks sky blue over light purple.
Opal Texture over Di-vine is Divine. Opal is a clear iridescent texture topcoat clear enough to allow the base color to show through it. It has chameleon-like properties and will take on a different look depending on which base color you pair it with. I choose Di-vine is Divine and it looks more light purple/silver on top of it.

Quartz Texture
over Great Minds Pink Alike. Quartz is a very smokey pewter/pink that lightens when applied over a bright color. I paired it with Great Minds Pink Alike.

These were a lot of fun to work with. The directions state to apply them over dry polish but I applied them all over wet polish and still had good results. I paired all of the colors with the Nicole by OPI Target Spring 2012 Collection. For each texture polish I used 1 thick coat, except with Quartz, which needed a medium coat. I like that they are glitters and look really good in the sun or under artificial light. The Amethyst combination with pink is crazy cute! These are great for anyone who wants a fast and dramatic nail art look. Amethyst and Opal are my favorite from the set.

Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers and Nail Treatments contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. Nicole by OPI formulas are long-lasting, fast-drying, and salon-quality. Opal, Quartz, Amethyst and Aquamarine Texture shades will be available April 2012 for $7.99 each at select retailers including CVS, Duane Reade, Fred Meyer, HEB, Meijer, Sears and Target. In Canada, this line will be available for $10.99 each at select Jean Coutu, Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart Canada locations.

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor Nail Lacquers, Wel-Kim to My World Collection

Nicole by OPI
announces the launch of Wel-Kim to My World, a collection of new nail lacquers inspired by Kim Kardashian. The line features six pastel-hued shades in white, pink, blue and honey tones that give nails a subtle pop of color.

Nothing Kim-pares to Blue
. Cornflower blue with matching shimmer. A great color for the Spring. I used 3 coats to make it opaque.

Others Pale By Kim-parison. It looks very white against my skin but it's actually more of a dark off-white creme. I used 3 coats.

Kim Konfidential - light caramel creme. I really like this one against my skin tone. It might make mannequin hands for some. I wore this one all week and couldn't stop looking at my nails. Its a great neutral when you want a break from bright colors and vamps. I used 4 coats to make it opaque. You may only need 3 if you prefer thicker coats.

Up & Kim-ing Pink. Another fun Spring color. Nicole by OPI describes it as cotton candy pink and I must agree. I used 3 coats to make it opaque.
Here Kim's The Sun. Opalescent sparkle top coat. I added 1 coat over Up & Kim-ing Pink for a little sparkle. A great way to add a little flair to you mani.
Lights, Kim-era, Action. Iridescent shimmering pearl. This one is quite unique to my stash. I used 3 coats here but probably could have added another to perfect the look. My camera made it look quite bright but its actually a little darker in real life.

Lights, Kim-era, Action in natural sunlight.

A view of the entire collection.

All of the polishes applied well and if they perform like Kim Konfidential, will have great wear. Overall the colors are cute for the Spring but great at anytime of the year. Most of them are classic colors that you can wear anywhere. My favorites are Kim Konfidential, Nothing Kim-Pares to Blue and Up & Kim-ing Pink.

Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers and Nail Treatments contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. Nicole by OPI formulas are long-lasting, fast-drying, and salon-quality. Wel-Kim to My World will be available April 2012 for $7.99 each at retailers including CVS, Duane Reade, Harmon, Sears, ULTA and Wegmans. In Canada, this line will be available for $10.99 each at Jean Coutu, Loblaw and Shoppers Drug Mart.
