Color Club Starry Temptress Collection Summer 2011

Today I have the Temptress Collection by Color Club to share with you. The set contains 6 neons infused with holographic glitter. How cool is that? There's also a glitter topcoat to add extra sparkle. I'm really excited to review this collection because I've heard great things about it. Well here goes............

Space Case. Vibrant pink with a petite amount of glitter. This one is great because its flirty without being over the top. Gorgeous!

Ultra Astral. Darker pink neon, very pretty. A cute alternative to Space Case if you prefer darker pinks.
Wink, Wink, Twinkle
. Medium purple neon, that's much prettier in person. One of my favorites.

Wink, Wink, Twinkle + Temptress Glitter Topcoat. The glitter definitely took it up a notch!

You Got Soul-ar
. This one is more orange but my camera wanted to make it red.

Glitter Envy
. Oh my word, this is really beautiful! The glitter is very noticeable with this one.

Otherworldly
. Properly named, a very flirtatious blue infused with holographic glitter. This one is amazing!!! I didn't use the glitter topcoat here, but the glitter seems to propel through the polish.

I must say that I really like this collection. It was very creative to combine the neon with glitter. The application was a bit thick but I mastered it by the second nail. For all of the colors I applied 1 thin layer, then topped it off with a thick layer. Like most neons, they dried matte but a clear top coat can be used for a glossy look. The set includes a temptress (glitter) topcoat to add another layer of bling, but all of the polishes are impressive on their own. Its great because you feel like you're wearing nail art without doing any of the work. This set is a must have for the glitter lover! My favorites are Space Case, Glitter Envy, Wink Wink Twinkle and Otherworldly.

Color Club can be purchased online.

China Glaze Island Escape Collection Swatches

Who's ready for an island escape? With finals right around the corner I know I am! So today I have China Glaze's Summer Collection to share. I was really excited when I first saw this collection because I'm a brights type of girl. There's nothing like a cheery polish to lighten your mood!

Papaya Punch. Whip out your shades girls because this is a bright orange creme, almost neon. Very smooth application and applied with two coats.

108 Degrees. Berry pink infused with bright pink microglitter that makes it glisten in the sun.
Senorita Bonit
a. Sweet purple shimmer with pink microglitter. This one is quite beautiful!!! Two coats.

Blue Iguana. Stunning blue with light microglitter. This one also has that glass-glistening effect. Three coats. Gorgeous!
Cha Cha Cha. Medium bright green. The golden shimmer gives it a yellow glow.

Electric Pineapple
. Yellow-green cream. Like most yellows, four coats were required.

Overall the collection captured the island feel with the bright yellow, orange and blue that are reminiscent of what you'll see on a tropical vacation. The application was smooth & easy for most of the polishes, except Electric Pineapple which gave me a little trouble. Most of the glitters needed 3 coats, but they are thin and dry quickly, so it wasn't much of an issue. Blue Iguana, Senorita Bonita & Papaya Punch are my favorites!

And here's my Island Escape mani using Electric Pineapple, Cha Cha Cha & Blue Iguana.

Zoya Summertime Collection 2011

Hello Ladies! I wanted to finish adding my Zoyas before the exchange is over. Here's the Summetime Collection

Sooki
. A bright, crisp, cherry red. Very smooth formula and applied in 2 coats.

Tamsen
. A warm brick red with orange undertones with an opaque creme finish. I had slight VNL with 1 coat. Two coats or a neutral base should do the trick.

Kieko. A warm dusty light purple with berry undertones with an opaque cream finish. Smooth application and applied in 2 coats.

Areej
. Soft muted cool fuschia pink with an opaque cream finish. Opaque in 2 coats.

Mira
. Blue toned medium purple with dusty lavendar tones and an opaque creme finish.

Breezi
. Soft, medium cerulean blue with an opaque cream finish.

The Zoya Summertime Collection are all creams with a flawlessly smooth application. There are many cool tones and I was pleasantly surprised at how flattering they are. The shades are not just great for the summer but great year round. They all dried with a high gloss and only needed two coats. Sooki, Kieko and Mira are my favorites.

Zoya polishes are free of harmful chemicals like toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and dibutyl phthalate (DBP).

Available at Zoya.com for $8.

Happy Saturday! Today I have Zoya's Sunshine Collection to share.

Zoya introduces six new rich and elegant shades for Summer. Each delicious shade is infused with a glowing golden metallic sparkle thats creates your own sunshine on each fingertip. Each ultra long wearing Zoya Sunshine nail polish shade is highly pigmented and applies like silk.

Tanzy. Light, bright tangerine orange with yellow/gold metallic sparkle. Two coats.

Rica
. Warm light coral with pink and orange tones and golden metallic sparkle. Two coats.

Apple. Luminous yellow-toned apple green with golden metallic sparkle. Two coats.

Faye. Bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones filled with golden sparkles. This one looks more golden on the nail with a purple hue. Very beautiful. Three coats.

Kimmy. Gleaming metallic candy apple red brightened by golden sparkle. Two coats.

Reva
. A cool toned strawberry red with glowing golden metallic sparkle. I'm in love XOXO.

Zoya certainly captured the Sun with this collection. All of the polishes glistened with a golden hue that's captivating without being over the top. They applied very easily and went on with two coats, except Faye that needed 3 coats. My personal favorites are Reva, Kimmy, Faye and Tanzy!

Zoya Mod Matte Collection Swatches

Happy Earth Day! Today I have Zoya's Mod Mattes to share with you.

Mitzi. Frosted lime green, almost neon. Here she is in 4 coats.

A clear topcoat made her a deeper lime.

Lolly. Medium bright pink, almost fuschia. Opaque in 3 coats.

Clear topcoat applied.

Phoebe. Electric blue shimmer mattified. I love this one. Opaque in 3 coats.

Even prettier with a top coat.

The matte finish is an interesting twist from the norm, its like two personalities in one bottle. An added bonus is that they dry super fast. There is a learning curve to applying the polishes to achieve a smooth finish. The last coat must be thick and smoothed down with the brush until the strokes melt together. They are designed to wear without a base & topcoat, but a clear topcoat will give you a quick fresh look. I usually go for pinks, but Phoebe and Mitzi are my favorites from the collection.

And here's my mod mani to match the collection.

Konad M65

Spring Flowers & Nail Stickers

I can't believe the school year is almost over. I get excited when school comes to an end because I know I'll have more time to spend blogging and polishing. I have to return my computer in a couple of weeks, so I've been working on organizing my photos. I ran across a few that I've never posted so I thought I'd share with you. These were made using nails stickers from Ebay. I love nails stickers because they can easily transform a mani into something beautiful.

I also found a few Nailene stickers at the Dollar Store today. I was looking for nails prisms and almost passed them up. There's 36 in the box (in 18 sizes) and they're made for fingers and toes. They were 7 different designs but I only choose 4.

They're not as detailed as the Sally Hansen or Broadway stickers but its another option for only a buck. I haven't read the instructions yet, so I'm not sure how long they're supposed to last. I'll give them a try tomorrow and report back!

That's all for now. Have a great night!

Catherine Arley #674

Hello everyone. How are you doing tonight? I'm so happy I just finished two tests and now I have some free time to relax. It's definitely gonna be a TV Night for me. My brain cells need some rest and relaxation!

Here's a mani I did back in February. I'm not sure why but I originally didn't like the color. I think I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't a linear holo, but when I look back at the picture I notice how beautiful it is. Has that ever happened to you? Sometimes you don't know a good thing when its staring you in the face =)

Catherine Arley #674. Five coats.

And here she is compared to China Glaze 2Nite.

CG - Pointer & Middle, CA - Ring & Pinky

That's all for now. Hopefully the sun will pay me a visit soon so that I can post more holos!

Nails on the Go

Last night I had a chance to try out the lace nail stickers by Sally Hansen. I was headed out to a dinner party and my flat iron broke, which threw me totally off schedule. I had to resort to using my mini flat iron, which took forever, so I had to change my nail plans. I wanted to do an exotic animal print but I had to go with the Salon Effects instead. I had been saving this set for a special occasion so it all worked out.

360 - Laced Up

I'm not sure if I like them better than Konad but they were really fast. It's not perfect but it turned out pretty good considering I did them in the car. I also used the large stickers for my toes. Instant glamour!

China Glaze Anchors Away - Sand & Sea Collection

Hello everyone. Tonight I have China Glaze's Sand & Sea Collection to share. I'm sure you've seen most of them before, but here they are on me :)

Sunset Sail. Salmon-peach with a slight shimmer. Three coats but I could have used another.

Pelican Grey
. Very soft shade of gray with a slight shimmer. The application was quite smooth. A surprise favorite.

Knotty. Tan with a touch of micro glitter, 3 coats.

Below Deck
. Dark mauve creme, 2 coats. I never really understood the fascination with mauve colors, but now I get it. A surprise favorite.

White Cap. Light golden flecks in a thick white base. It totally changed the appearance of Below Deck.

Sea Spray
. Last but definitely not least. Dusty blue-gray with a slight shimmer. My favorite :)

I normally don't wear neutrals but I've fallen for quite a few of these colors. I usually go for the bold and dramatic but sometimes it pays to be soft. These colors are a great segue into the Summer collections. Sea Spray, Below Deck and Sunset Sail are my favorites!

And here is my Sea & Sand marble. Hope you like it!

Fun Dusty Hunting

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great day. Last week I had a chance to go Dusty shopping. If you're not familiar with Dusty-ing, its where you shop Hair Salons, Beauty Supply Stores & Nail Salons for old polishes that are no longer available retail. I've only been twice, but the second time I went I had a bad experience so I shied away from it. Well last week I felt the urge to give it a try, so I set out for a little Dusty adventure.

To my surprise, everyone was really nice. I think it helped that I went early in the morning, before they were swamped with customers. I only looked for old China Glaze polishes because they are easy to spot due to the silver handle.

Here's what I found:

I'm so happy everything went well. As I get more comfortable I'll explore other polish collections and maybe even try to negotiate prices. The shops that I went too only sold China Glaze and OPI. I knew I could quickly spot the OMG's and make a run for it. I almost fainted when I thought I spotted Grape Crush, but it was Crystal Ball instead.

Part of me feels guilty for buying up all these gems, but if they've been sitting there for 2 years I guess they were meant for me. I'll definitely try this again now that I know to go during slow hours. I encourage you to try it also, but if you do, be sure to wear comfortable clothes. Most likely you'll have to squat, bend and peak through a looking glass to find the beauties you want :)

I almost forgot to post pics. I had to try IDK first because I've been wanting a purple holo for a very long time!
Thanks for stopping by!
