NOTD Madam Glam I Love Winter

Today I have swatches of I love Winter from Madam Glam. It contains gold & pink micro glitter packed throughout a smokey base. 

The formula is thick and goes on nicely with one coat, but needed two to become opaque.   From some angles, the glitter looks more like flakes. It's a simple yet stunning combination.

Adventure Red-Y

Cherry brick-red. This one is gorgeous! A great red to wear to work without raising everyone's eyebrows. Very sultry and a surprise favorite. I used 2 coats. 

Call of the Wild

Dark chocolate creme. I used 2 coats here. 

Desert Sun

This one doesn't look like the sun at all, it's more of a caramel creme. I think most will either love or hate this color. I personally love it. I used 2 coats here. 

I Herd That

Clear base with tiny red, bronze and gold holographic glitter.  I used 1 coat over Desert Sun. This one is cute but it reminds me of Finger Paints Holly Good Time.  I searched all over for Holly Good Time last year and finally found it but wasn't crazy about it. For some reason I like this one better.  Maybe it's the combination over the caramel.    

Kalahari Kiss

2 coats with topcoat.  Neutral khaki creme. Thick formula but I think my bottle was opened accidentally during shipping. 

I'm Not Lion

Neutral base filled with tiny silver and gold holographic glitter. I found this a little on the thick side which is great if you want to use it alone. I layered 1 coat it over Kalahari Kiss.  It dried matte but livened up with a top coat. 

This half of the collection is nice.  I found the formula a little thicker than what I personally prefer, but it allowed coverage in 2 coats for most of the polishes. My favorites from this half of the collection are Adventure Red-y which is a surprise because I rarely wear reds.  My other favorite is I'm Not Lion.  The others I feel like I've seen before somewhere in my collection.  They are worth checking out if you don't own them though.  Overall this set will wear great for the Fall.

OPI Holland Collection 2012 - Swatches and Review - Part 1

Happy Friday! So glad this week is over and on to a healthier happier week. Today I have the OPI Holland Collection to share with you. This is the first of two posts dedicated to the collection. I started with the shimmers because they're one of my favorite finishes. All of the polishes were photographed using indoor lighting to showcase the shimmer.

Pedal Faster Suzi! - pink base with tiny silver/white shimmer. The formula is a medium thickness and slightly sheer so I used 3 coats but probably could have gotten away with two. This is one of my favorites from this half of the collection.

Gouda Gouda Two Shoes - dirty rose pink with matching shimmer. I wasn't sure how this would look against my skin tone but I like it. It has a slightly thicker formula than Pedal Faster Suzi! and only needed 2 coats.

I Don't Give A Rotterdam!- Smokey light denim blue base with silver shimmer. I'm in love with this one. Two coats to perfection!
I Have A Herring Problem - the sister to I Don't Giver A Rotterdam! It also has a smokey blue base with silver shimmer but there's a touch of green giving it a darker tone. I could have gotten away with 2 coats but I added a 3rd.

Wooden Shoe Like To Know? - light brick red-brown with copper-red shimmer. I used two coats.

Dutch'ya Just Love OPI? - medium purple with copper-red shimmer. My camera totally changed the color of this one. It's more of a dusty medium purple. I used two coats for to make it opaque.


OPI successfully captured a few of the Spring color trends for 2012. Most of the polishes from this half of the collection have an earthy feel to them but it's balanced on the nail with the addition of shimmer. Overall I'm pleased with this half of the collection. My favorites are I Don't Give A Rotterdam, Dutch-ya Just Love OPI? and Pedal Faster Suzi!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope you have a lot of fun planned for today! I was up late last night cooking and decided to remove my glitter mani. I went with Julep's Boris & Nicole, a reddened brown. Then stamped with China Glaze Hi-Tech. I used Revlon's base and topcoat because it's supposed to prevent chips and so far so good. I made it through at least 20 hand washings and 5 side dishes!

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Holiday Collection Swatches, Fall 2011

Hello everyone! Tonight I have the Kardashian Kolors to share with you. There are 14 polishes to choose from and the collection features a combination of glitters, shimmers and cremes. I was really excited to try these out. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Hard-Kourt Fashionista - Dark brown chocolate 2 coater.
Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam - Deep green with hints of blue. Much prettier than the grassier greens in my current collection. Luscious 1 coater.

All Kendall-ed Up - Bright fuchsia pink almost neon, 2 coats.

Sealed With A Kris - Crimson creme, shiny 3 coater.

It's All About the Glam - Milky white cream with white shimmer. Pretty 3 coater that goes on slightly thicker than Kim-pletely in Love.
Kim-pletely In Love - Pink base with tiny holographic shimmer. Surprisingly sheer but built up nicely. Four thin coats to become opaque.

My Empire...My Rules - Grey taupe opaque in 3 coats. Thinner than I expected but the formula allowed good application control.
Indirect light.

Kourt Is Red-y For A Pedi - Perfect bright cherry red 2 coater.
Listen To Your Momager! - Royal blue with light blue shimmer. Two coats to good management!
Kendall on The Katwalk - Blue and purple glitter in a blue base. There's actually more purple in the polish than what becomes apparent on the nail. The next photo is more color accurate.

More Color Accurate View

Follow Me On Glitter - Charcoal base with predominantly tiny silver glitter and sparse pink and green medium sized glitter. I like the unexpected burst of color. I used 3 coats but probably could have gotten away with 2.
Wear Something Spar-Kylie - Medium pink base with tiny pink glitter. Required 3 coats to become opaque.

Disco Dolls - bronzed golden glitter in a clear base with flecks of green and red medium sized glitter. Three coats to become opaque. Another favorite.
Rainbow in the S-Kylie. Dense multi-glitter packed with every color in the Holiday rainbow. Tiny pink, silver, green, gold and red glitter. Medium pink and silver glitter. Large green, red, yellow and silver glitter. This list is not all-inclusive, lol. One layer over Disco Dolls for something Spark-Kylie.

There are definitely some gems in this collection! I wonder if the Kardashian's assisted in designing the polishes because there is a good variety and a little something for everyone. My favorites are Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam, Disco Dolls, Kendall On The Katwalk, My Empire Rules and Follow Me on Glitter.

Nubar White Polka Dot

Hello lovelies! So sorry for my lack of posts this week. I'm still doing rotations overnight so I've been sleeping during the day and by the time I wake up it's too dark to take pics! Luckily this one is almost over but I had to do a couple of papers for a final grade. I wanted to write, "blah, blah, blah. i'm tired of school, let me outta here" lol, but of course I would've gotten a F. My current teacher is so nice that it's hard not to enjoy the rotation. I learned a lot and witnessed a few people die which was pretty dramatic but overall it's been a good last few weeks.

Today I'm rockin' Nubar White Polka Dot. My first Nubar ever, yay! I don't know what I've been waiting on, I guess I don't like to buy as much polish online as I do in person. I had to have this one after I saw the cute swatches on Body&Soul. They also have a black version called Black Polka Dot (very creative I know, ha ha). I didn't get that one because I have Uninhibited and I think they're similar. I almost forgot but I had to purchase this one off Ebay because I couldn't find it on Nubar's website.

For this mani I used one thin coat of White Polka Dot over Sally Hansen Sequin Scandal. WPD contains white hex glitter and tiny holographic glitter that goes from white to blue. The formula is quite thick which I guess is needed to suspend the glitter. It really jazzed up Sequin Scandal which was a lot darker than I expected. Overall I think this mani turned out quite cute. My only complaint is that my bottles is 1/5 gone after two manis.

Sally Hansen Fall 2011 Collection - Review and Swatches

Tonight I have a review of the Sally Hansen Fall 2011 Collection. The Collection is a result of several collaborations with Fashion Designers: Tracy Reese, J Mendel, Rachel Roy and Prabal Gurung.

Mousseline. Perfect work neutral, a soft white with a ceramic hue. It makes my nails look like porcelain which I love. The only problems is that I needed 4 thin coats for complete coverage.

Ballet Rouges. A nice dusty pink, like Barbie but with an edge. I used 3 coats for good measure but could have gotten away with 2.

Courtesan. Medium fuchsia, very pretty. Only needed 2 coats.

Crinoline. Soft white neutral with a pink hue compared to Mousseline's beige/taupe. I liked the formula better on this one but it also required 4 coats.

Dorien Gray. A blue-tinted gray. It's more gray but looks blue on me for whatever reason. It has a very thin formula and required 4 coats.

Green Tea. Dusty mint green with a hint of blue. Very chic. Two coats required.

Himalayan Blue. Gorgeous blue with a thin formula. I needed 3 coats.

Madame X. I like the formula on this one the most. I only needed 2 coats.

Terracotta. This one reminds of a cappuccino. Pretty color but I'm not sure if it looks that great with my skin tone. Two coats gave me mannequin hands.

Oxide. Gunmetal foil that's really popular right now. Only 2 coats were required.

Oxide in direct light to show its blingy-ness.

Bewitched (Outdoors). Pretty eggplant creme. It's very dark but almost black indoors.

Bewitched (Indoors). I took a second pic to show the actual purple/eggplant of the polish. I used 2 coats.

Shiny Penny. Very sheer copper-orange. I used 2 coats but could have gotten away with a 3rd. My camera couldn't accurately capture its beauty.

Overall the polishes applied well in either 2-4 coats. Most of the line are cremes so there may be duplicates available. Some of the formulas were a bit thin as noted above while the other were better and only required 2-3 coats. My favorites from the collection are: Bewitched, Mousseline, Dorien Gray and Green Tea.

I don't have the exact release date but the collection will be available soon.
