NOTW: Nails of The Week

Quick spam to share my nails so far this week!

Color Club - Wild At Heart. A long time lemming I got recently. Gorgeous color but I was slightly disappointed with the holo effect. I'm not sure if this is a dud or not???

OPI Silver Shatter over Zoya Sweet.

Revlon - Carbonite. I drove so far out of the way to find this one and then I saw it yesterday at Big Lots for $1.50, lol. I'm not sure how I feel about Carbonite. It's kind of dull in my honest opinion.

That's all for tonight. I hope you enjoyed my mini spam :)

Born Pretty Purple Crackle Polish

Hello everyone. I hope you're having a fabulous week! I started a new rotation this week which has been great so far and I also started working out again. I had a very long jog today and I'm exhausted now but I wanted to quickly share one of my previous manis.

I know a lot of your are worn out from the crackle trend but I just received this polish so I thought I would give it a go. It's a dark purple crackle from Born Pretty. I layered it over OPI Pros & Bronze.

Second pic to show the bottle.

The color is pretty but the crackles are not consistent. It could be user error because I put it over wet polish instead of dry. I prefer the bigger crackles that allow the gold to show through so I'll have to try it again over wet polish to see the true crackle effect.

That's all for tonight. Stop by this weekend because I'll be starting my Halloween series. Until then, Happy Polishing!!!

China Glaze Let It Snow Holiday Collection 2011 Swatches & Review

Today I have the glitters from the China Glaze Holiday Collection to share with you!

Glittering Garlard - dark emerald green jelly base with tiny green glitter throughout that combines to give a very sexy mani! It applied easily with only 2 coats to make it opaque. The glitter really pops on the nail and is not chunky at all.

Sunlight

Indirect Light

Blue Years Eve
- blue jelly base with tiny blue glitter. It looks much darker in the bottle but on the nail it's actually more of a royal blue with a hint of green. I only used 2 coats but could have gotten away with a third.

Direct Light

Indirect Light

Ring In The Red
- red jelly base with small and medium round red glitter. The formula on this one was very thin and required 3 coats. It's probably not unique to my stash but still pretty.

Sunlight

Indirect Sunlight

Champagne Bubbles - golden yellow foil with tiny silver glitter. This one was very thin and required 3 coats. Pretty color but I would have loved a little more glitter in this one.

Sunlight

Indirect Light

Tinsel Town - charcoal base with tiny silver and medium round glitter. I applied 2 thin coats to make it opaque. I'm in love with this one and can see myself wearing it a lot for the Holidays!

Sunlight

Indirect Light

Snow Globe
- clear base with iridescent glitter that flashes white, blue, pink or green at different angles depending on the base coat it's matched with. I paired it with Glittering Garland and Blue Years Eve.

The glitters are quite cute and the colors are reminiscent of the Holiday Season. Champagne Bubbles actually reminds me of Christmas ornaments. All of the polishes applied smoothly with little issues except Champagne Bubbles which left a few streaks and like most yellows required 3 coats. Overall I like that the glitters are exciting but still work appropriate. My favorites are Glittering Garland, Tinsel Town and Blue Years Eve. I'm still waiting for Twinkling Lights which was sold out when I purchased the others. I'll post swatches when I receive it.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great polishing weekend ;)

NOTD: Julep Maggie with Spectraflair Holographic Topcoat

Today I'm sharing my nail of the day, Julep Maggie. Maggie is a deep blue-purple with blue and purple shimmer. It appears more blue indoors and the purple is more obvious in the sunlight. I only needed 2 coats to make it opaque. The formula is great on this one and the colors are very concentrated.

Here's a pic indoors. It appears more blue and the shimmer is not as obvious. I have very slight tip wear because this is day 2 of my mani.

For fun I decided to take it up a notch and added a Spectraflair topcoat (1/2 bottle of Wet N' Wild clear polish and a pea size of Spectraflair). I love the result! I've been lemming DS Glamour since forever and surprisingly this came out really close. There is a trick to applying Spectraflair. If it's applied too thickly it changes the color of the base to more appear more silver. Only a very thin layer is needed to create the holo effect.

Here you can see the thicker layer of Spectraflair on the index finger changed the base to appear more silver. I used a lighter layer on the other fingers which added a holo without overwhelming the base color. So the other nails remained blue after the topcoat was added.

This was a fun and easy way to jazz up my mani. So far I've only tried it over blue but I would imagine it would look great over several colors.

What Spectraflair color combinations have you tried?

OPI US Open, Serena Williams Glam Slam Duo: Pros & Bronze and Love is a Racket, Swatches

Hello, hello! Today I'm sharing swatches from OPI's US Open Glam Slam Duo Pack.

Love is a Racket. A red shimmer with pink-red flecks. It applied smoothly in 2 coats but I probably could have gotten away with a third. I love the result! It's very shiny without a topcoat and looks like red stained glass. Very beautiful.

Closer view.

Pros & Bronze. A gorgeous textured glitter that combines gold, burnt orange and pink which creates a sparkling bronze effect. It's so pretty it confused my camera. I used 3 coats and took a pic in direct and indirect light because it looks more golden at some angles. This polish is perfect for this time of the year because it contains many elements reminiscent of the Fall. It's definitely unique to my collection and my favorite of the two!

This Glam Slam duo is available now at Professional Salons that sale OPI, including: Beauty Brands, Regis, Trade Secret, Dillards, JCPenny and ULTA for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail price.
